The government’s dedication to ICTis examplified in stem education nationwide
“At the moment, ten (10) contemporary STEM schools are being developed, with eight already finished, completely furnished, and operational. Building, renovating, and retooling TVET facilities across the nation are government priorities, and TVET Services has been set up as a department inside the Ministry of Education with its own director general. The goal, according to him, was to create a trained middle-class labour force that will form the foundation of Ghana’s industrialization strategy.
On Friday 30th June, 2023 in Atebubu, the minister spoke to the 10th Congregation of the Atebubu College of Education (ATECOE).
The theme “Enhancing IT Integration in Contemporary Teacher Education: The Role of Colleges of Education.” Was the event.
The vibrant celebration drew attendees from all walks of life, including Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister and a former student, as well as other former students, chiefs, and a plethora of other individuals.
Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan remarked that the incorporation of information technology into the education and training of teachers to gain the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to boost their output is essential for the success of STEM and TVET education in the nation.
Leadership
The minister urged the college’s principal, members of the governing board, and management to fully support the college’s objective by exhibiting wise and forward-thinking leadership to help with the effective preparation of qualified teachers for the area and the nation at large. The minister emphasized to the graduating class that the real worth of earning their diplomas resides in how they use the knowledge they have received to constructively benefit society.
“Don’t overlook or take for granted the most basic elements in our environment. According to the minister, a college education focuses on teaching students how to think and how to have some degree of control over their ideas so they may select what to focus on.
Graduands
It’s crucial to keep in mind that the degree certificates you receive today from your university signify that you have finished a course of study satisfactorily. How you use the information you have learned in the workplace is where the actual value is found. How you take advantage of the chances to educate, better yourself, and experience the necessary transformation you want in your life,” he continued.
The regional minister emphasized that the quality of Ghana’s citizens—who are on a result of its educational system—depends on the country’s goal of becoming an industrialized one.
“It is in this respect that the Government has initiated some key education reforms to transform teaching and learning and improve education outcomes under the Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018- 2030)”, he explained.
According to him, these changes are anticipated to help meet Sustainable Development Goal 4: “Quality Education” and enhance learning results, particularly at pre-tertiary levels.
