GHANEPS WORKSHOP FOR KEY MEMBERS
KICK OFF WORKSHOP ON GHANA ELECTRONIC PROCUREMENT SYSTEM AT ATEBUBU COLLEGE EDUCATION
Officers from the PPA visited the Atebubu College of Education to he’s a kick-off meeting on the GHANEPS with the relevant staff involved in the procurement activities.
The objective of the kick-off meeting was to officially launch the implementation of the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS) and discuss the project’s scope, objectives, timeline, and roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders involved at Atebubu College of Education.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome by the College Principal, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng who briefly explained the purpose of the workshop and introduced the key stakeholders and team members present.
The Principal Operations Officer, Mr. Tanko Aminu provided an overview of the Ghana Electronic Procurement System, highlighting its significance in modernizing the procurement process in Ghana. He stated the system aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the public procurement process.
He stated that the Web-based application was aimed at creating a user-friendly environment that caters forthe specific needs of the procurement processes. According to Mr. Tanko Aminu, GHANEPS seeks to;
- Provide a user-friendly interface: The application has an intuitive design and navigation that ensures a seamless user experience.
- Support essential functionality: The application incorporates core features and functionalities that fulfill the requirements of the procurement processes.
- Ensure accessibility: The application is accessible across various devices, browsers, and operating systems to maximize its reach.
- Enhance performance and scalability: The software has been designed to handle a large number of concurrent users and scale effectively as user demand grows.
- Maintain data security and privacy: The application prioritizes the security and confidentiality of user data, implementing robust security measures.
He presented the project’s scope and objectives, emphasizing the need to develop a comprehensive electronic procurement system that covers all stages of the procurement process, including planning, tendering, evaluation, awarding, and contract management.
Mr. Andy Abrokwah, the Project Management Officer discussed the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder involved in the project, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and effective communication among the team members to ensure successful implementation.
Potential risks and challenges associated with the implementation of GHANEPS were discussed, including technical complexities, resistance to change, and integration with existing systems. Mitigation strategies were identified to address these risks, such as conducting user training, engaging stakeholders’ proactiveness, and closely monitoring the project’s progress.
An interactive session was held to address attendees’ queries, concerns, or suggestions. This allowed for clarification of project details and ensured that everyone had a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the College Principal, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng expressing appreciation for the attendance and commitment of the stakeholders. The importance of their collective efforts in successfully implementing GHANEPS was highlighted, and the team members were encouraged to actively contribute to the project’s success.
